Operating on the Unity College premises in the
evening shift and availing of all the facilities of the college, the
Unity Mission School provides cost-free education to the
underprivileged students of our society. For the impoverished
children, this evening school is like Noah’s Arc – it rescues them
from the turbulent sea of illiteracy and poverty and provides them
with forward-looking support.
-
Student care: Children are
provided with books, uniform (summer and winter), shoes,
transportation and medical aid - all free of charge.
-
Approach: Curricular,
extra-curricular events, sports and developmental programs of Unity
College are replicated with an even greater degree of care and
enthusiasm.
-
Summer camps: During the
summer vacation, the children are invited to spend around 4 hours
every day at the school to use their time constructively and learn a
vocation, play games, and participate in literary competitions,
educational and recreational tours.
-
Meet-the-Mother: Regular parent-teacher meetings have resulted
in an overwhelming attendance by cooperative mothers, who are the
moving spirit behind the success of the school.
-
Affiliation efforts: The
school is in the process of seeking affiliation to the Board of High
School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh.
-
Entertainment: This year, in
addition to the Annual Sports Week and Prize Day, the students
enjoyed a full-day Eid Mela. Pony and train rides, games, a magic
show, refreshments and gifts kept the children engaged and
delighted.
