Unity Inter College, Lucknow
Unity Inter College, an English medium ICSE-affiliated
school, caters to students from lower nursery to class 12 (science and
commerce streams).
- It
opened with 17 students, in 1984, out of a rented building. Four
years later, in 1998, the school shifted to its own campus, spread
over 5.75 acres of green land and with a total built-up area of
64,200 sq ft.
- The
school now has 2,000 students and 75 teachers.
- In
2006-07, Unity Inter College students did their teachers and
families proud. All 123 ICSE (class 10) students and 101 ISC (class
12) students cleared their respective board examination. Six ICSE
students and seven ISC students scored above 90% marks, where as 27
students in class 12 and 28 students in class 10. scored over 80%.

Infrastructure: The school
offers three well-equipped computer laboratories open to all classes
- from the pre-primary sections onwards. A well-stacked library, an
activity room for tiny tots, spacious chemistry, physics and biology
laboratories; computer-based teaching aids; on-campus medical
facility; a canteen; banking facility; and a tailoring center are
added facilities.

Curriculum: Regular career
counseling and career guidance sessions, orientation programs,
lectures delivered by eminent personalities, workshops on
communication skills and creative writing, educational tours,
exhibitions on science-arts-crafts are organized.

All-round development: Extra-curricular activities such as
debates in Hindi, Urdu, and English; elocution, quiz, essay writing
and wall magazine competitions are held for the students, as are art
and sewing-needlecraft competitions. Students participate at
inter-school levels, frequently bringing home prizes.

Sports: A team of qualified
instructors coach the students round the year in a broad spectrum of
indoor and outdoor games. Unity College sports stars have won many
awards at inter-house and inter-school cricket, hockey, football,
basketball, volleyball, handball, kho-kho, table tennis, badminton
and athletics meets.

Promoting protégés: Budding
tennis talent Samia Rizvi, of class 10, has been sponsored by Unity
College to undergo professional training at the Nike Bhupathi Tennis
Village, Bangalore, with hope and prayers to see her become a
national star.

Achievements: Several boys
from the college were selected to the under- 16 team, pitching them
towards the national leagues.
